Join the U.S. Export Assistance Center and the Trade Development Alliance to explore business opportunities with some of Singapore’s key industry sectors, including aerospace, energy, green build, medical, education, and other “best prospects”.
Singapore is called the “Gateway to Asia” for good reason. Singapore is a regional hub for logistics, aerospace, medical, bioscience, education, pharmaceuticals and finance, and is also our 11th largest export market accounting for $35-$40 billion in U.S. goods and services. Singapore consistently ranks as one of Washington State’s top ten two way trading partners. Mr. Thompson will touch on opportunities within several sectors, including:
- Aerospace: Singapore leads the rest of Asia in aircraft maintenance, engine repair, component repair and overhaul capabilities.
- Energy: Singapore plans to increase its energy industry from US$15 billion to around US$25 b. by 2015.
- Green Build: The Government of Singapore (GOS) has gone into high gear to encourage the local construction industry to adopt green features in their projects.
- Medical: There are excellent opportunities for U.S. vendors and service providers to participate and sell their solutions to existing healthcare providers.
Dan Thompson is the Senior Commercial Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. Prior to this Mr. Thompson worked for seven years in Central America, first in Guatemala as the Senior Commercial Officer covering Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador and later in El Salvador. Dan established a regional office and worked for passage of the Central America Free Trade Agreement. Mr. Thompson has also worked overseas for the Department of Commerce in Portugal, Turkey, and Nigeria. Mr. Thompson received his BA from the George Washington University and his MA from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
ADDITIONAL MEETING OPPORTUNITIES: Mr. Thompson will also be available for one-on-one meetings following the business briefing. To schedule a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Thompson, please contact Karen Taylor, U.S. Export Assistance Center at 206-553-5615, Ext. 234.
