King County has extended the deadline for nominations for the 2013 King County Small Business Awards; the closing date is now July 22. Nominations may be made by a chamber of commerce, a city, or a business organization, and businesses may self-nominate. There are seven categories of award, including the Exporting Small Business of the Year, in recognition of the role that exporting businesses play in the local economy.
The award is consistent with the President’s National Export Initiative, which seeks to double national exports within five years. Given that 95% of businesses in King County would qualify for the Small Business Award by virtue of having fifty or fewer employees, much of that increase will be made by small businesses, and this is a great chance to give them an opportunity to be recognized.
For more information, please see King County’s page on the awards and the nomination process. The award ceremony will be held on September 25.
