Cascade Healthcare, an affiliate of Seattle-based Columbia Pacific, celebrated the grand opening of its new 60,000 square-foot senior living facility in Beijing this past week. On hand for the event was Ambassador Gary Locke along with top Chinese government officials.
The new facility, built in partnership with Sino-Ocean Land, has 110 beds and is located in a luxury residential housing community. This is the second senior-care facility that Cascade Healthcare has opened in China, the first one built in Shanghai. A third facility will open in Shanghai this fall.
Senior healthcare has become a pressing issue in China, where the number of citizens over 60 years old is estimated to more than double in the coming decades. The Chinese government has recognized the need for help from foreign companies to address this social issue, by developing facilities that blend international design and management standards with local customs.
Seattle’s Columbia Pacific is a recognized leader in the U.S. assisted living industry. Through their partnership with Sino-Ocean Land, they are lending their expertise in the development and management of these new facilities – including layout, interior design, staff training, policy development, and more.
