ABOUT US
The Trade Development Alliance is Greater Seattle’s premiere international organization. We promote the Greater Seattle region internationally for business and trade, connect our companies and institutions with international opportunities and educate the public on topics related to the international economy. The Trade Alliance is a regional partnership of Snohomish County, King County, Pierce County, Port of Everett, Port of Seattle, Port of Tacoma, City of Everett, City of Bellevue, City of Seattle, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and organized labor.
We implement our mission with the following activities, including:
- Organizing business and leadership missions to overseas markets
- Assisting inbound business delegations and leaders visiting our region
- Producing materials to brand the Greater Seattle region internationally for trade and business
- Coordinating inbound investment attraction efforts (foreign direct investment)
- Organizing educational programming for the public on topics related to international business
- Helping firms that are members of the Trade Alliance achieve their international business goals
Special Initiatives
The Trade Alliance handles additional coordinating functions to convene the Greater Seatte region internationally for business and trade.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Working Group
The Trade Alliance helps coordinate the FDI Working Group, a network of organizations working together to attract inbound investment into the Greater Seattle region and Washington State.
International Press Center Seattle
The Trade Alliance manages the International Press Center Seattle at the request of the U.S. State Department which runs foreign press centers in Washington, D.C. and New York. We provide logistical assistance and meeting coordination for international journalists covering Greater Seattle and Washington state.
World Bank Private Sector Liaison Office (PSLO)
The Trade Alliance hosts one of 10 North America PSLOs for the World Bank Group. The PSLO function connects local companies and institutions to procurement and export opportunities offered by the World Bank.
International Regions Benchmarking Consortium (IRBC)
The Trade Alliance is the co-secretariat (with the Puget Sound Regional Council) for the IRBC, a network of global metropolitan regions finding solutions for common issues such as talent attraction, maintaining and growing research universities, and building globally competitive cities while conserving scarce resources.
International Staff Group
The Trade Alliance convenes representatives of Greater Seattle’s international trade and non-profit community to coordinate programming and develop projects to improve Greater Seattle and Washington state’s international climate.
