Welcome to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle holds jurisdiction over the five Pacific Northwest states: Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho and Montana.
The Pacific Northwest encompasses one-fourth of the United States and is the closest U.S. territory to the Republic of Korea. The beautiful, natural landscape and friendly, welcoming atmosphere of the Puget Sound region makes this the ideal place to live. It is also home to the cutting-edge in the IT, aviation, biotechnology, forestry/agriculture/fishing, wholesale/retail, and distribution sectors. The myriad of industry leaders allows this region to serve as a major gateway for economic, cultural and social expansion between the Republic of Korea and the United States.
More than 170,000 Korean-Americans reside in the five Pacific Northwest states, and these numbers continue to increase as more Koreans relocate to this area in search of employment and educational opportunities. We find the current generation thriving at America’s top corporations – Microsoft, Boeing, and Amazon – and their success can be attributed to the strong foundation of hard work and perseverance set by their forefathers. In particular, the emergence of Korean-American civic leaders at both the local and state levels is truly inspiring.
It is the mission of this Consulate General to represent the best interests of Korean-Americans as they work to establish roots and flourish within their respective communities. It is also a priority to encourage our younger generations to preserve their cultural identity and heritage through historical and language education.
The Consulate will work in concert with the Korean-American population as well as Korean nationals in all matters small and large to enhance our social connections while protecting our national interests. We hope that you will continue to support us in our mission of bilateral growth and development.
