
Denise Dyer | Director of Economic Development, Pierce County
Denise Dyer holds an appointed position with the Pierce County Executive’s Office as the Director of the Economic Development Department. She has been working at Pierce County on behalf of the business community since 1988. She left a commercial banking career when she was hired as the County’s first Business Loan Officer. She became the County’s first Manager of Economic Development in 1998 (appointed Director in 2012) and works on a variety of projects affecting Pierce County’s business climate and providing direct service to the County’s businesses. She also manages the Pierce County Arts Commission, and all tourism-related taxes that are collected in the County.
Denise is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Washington Economic Development Association, and the Tacoma Regional Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. She is also the County’s representative to the Greater Seattle Trade Development Alliance. Denise is proud to be the Honorary Commander of the Fourth Airlift Squadron at McChord Air Force Base.
Denise is recognized by the National Development Council as a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional and is a graduate of the University of Washington-Tacoma.
