On October 5th, 100 of Lincoln High School’s students set off on the adventure of a lifetime. During his visit to Tacoma last fall, China’s President, Xi Jinping, personally invited this lucky group of students to visit his country. After excitedly waiting, the students have finally touched down in China. President Xi Jinping is a firm believer in education and trusts that students are the future of our nations. This travel experience will offer these students new insights and experiences that will broaden the perspective through which they navigate their futures.

Tacoma’s relationship with Chinese Sister City, Fuzhou, has remained strong over the years and these students will get to experience first-hand this relationship that they have learned about through their curriculum. Lincoln High School students visiting China not only benefits the Tacoma community, but also offers new experiences to the counterparts they will engage with abroad. As the students learn about Chinese culture, they also lend insights into the city of Tacoma, and the Washington community as a whole. This life-changing experience will offer new perspectives and inspiration on behalf of both Washington and China.
