Ho Chi Minh City, Haiphong & Hanoi
TRIP POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Purpose of Mission
The Purpose of this mission is to promote the Greater Seattle region as a world-class business center, its ports, and education resources. Delegates from the Greater Seattle region will have the opportunity to establish relationships and facilitate closer commercial ties with this dynamic economy. More specific objectives of the mission include:
- to enhance knowledge of the current economic conditions and business opportunities in Ho Chi Minh City, Haiphong and Hanoi;
- to enable business delegates to meet specific business objectives, ranging from exposure to market opportunities to making individual contacts;
- to develop and expand relationships between the business, government and multiplier organizations in our region and those in Vietnam.
Why Vietnam?
Vietnam was the leading candidate among our business community and it would be in Washington State’s interest to visit, since Vietnam is a large trading partner for Greater Seattle and our State. Vietnam presently offers a strong combination of rapid growth, social stability and an interesting demographic profile that is fueling industrial production and consumer demand. Since the implementation of the Bilateral Trade Agreement in 2001, two-way trade has grown ten fold. Vietnam’s economies grew at 8.5% in 2007 and with 60% of the country’s population under the age of 30; the labor force is large and dynamic. some are calling Vietnam the “next frontier” for business and trade, so don’t miss out on an opportunity to see for yourself how far Vietnam has come from a planned economy to a market economy, following in the steps of China.
