In 2009 the World Bank selected the Trade Alliance to host a Private Sector Liaison Office (PSLO). As a PSLO, the Trade Alliance is working to connect local companies with World Bank procurement opportunities.
Please join the Trade Alliance, Pacific Northwest Advisors and Export Finance Assistance Center of Washington as we learn more about opportunities with the World Bank and the procurement process. Learning about procurement opportunities and participating in the process can be complicated. As with all such applications, there are tricks of the trade. And, when you are working internationally on World Bank projects, financing can be an issue too. Fortunately, we have experts on both of these issues to give us an overview and act as a resource for our questions.
Before his retirement in 1996, Russell Cheetham was Vice President of the World Bank responsible for operations in the Asia Pacific Region. Dr. Cheetham’s career with the World Bank spanned more than 25 years. He worked extensively with East Asia and the Pacific, South Asia and the former Soviet Union. He has lived in Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Indonesia and Moscow. His work at the World Bank included advising governments and business in these regions on a wide range of policy matters. He has extensive experience in the design, preparation, financing and implementation of many different kinds of projects in these regions, and in the management of risks associated with such investments. Dr. Cheetham is a member of the Pacific Northwest Advisors’ Advisory Board and is a renowned advisor to governments around the world.
Tim Schipke joined the Export Finance Assistance Center of Washington as President and CEO in April 2008. Tim has a wide range of international experiencee. He joined Wachovia Bank in 1997, as a Relationship Manager for International Financial Institutions in Europe, Canada, and the Middle East, traveling extensively in those regions during his tenure at Wachovia. Tim was in Turkey in 1999 during a particularly tragic earthquake—and also participated in the bank’s Euro transition project in 1999. Tim moved to Seattle in early 2006 to accept a position with KeyBank as a Senior International Sales Specialist covering the Western Region and calling on Large Corporate and Middle Market clients marketing and offering consultative trade finance products services to importers and exporters.
