Greater Seattle’s outdoor rec exploring new heights

From Norway to Korea to Australia to Japan, Greater Seattle’s outdoor recreation companies are known throughout the world. This sector includes retailers and manufacturers of snowboards, clothing, recreational boats, and more. Recently, the sector increased its global reach.

Everett-based Zumiez, retailer of action sports related apparel and accessories for youth, announced that it is combining forces with Austrian sports retail company Blue Tomato. For Zumiez, this means working with one of Europe’s largest action sports ecommerce websites, tapping into Europe’s action sports space.

Another example of the international partnerships and alliances in the sector is K2 Sports. The company currently operates offices in Germany, Norway, Japan and Canada in addition to the U.S.K2 is also partnering with Shimano, based in Japan, to develop state-of-the-art food bindings for snowboarding.

This only goes to show the massive appeal of Greater Seattle’s outdoor recreational equipment and products, as well as the opportunities here for new partnerships and relationships.  Products coming out of the region allow people around the world to explore, climb, boat, hike and paddle to new heights (all while keeping warm).
