Please join the Trade Alliance in welcoming Dr. Kairat Umarov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States, to Greater Seattle.

Kazakhstan during 20 years of its independence has become one of the strongest economic powerhouses among emerging countries of the CIS region thanks to its abundant natural resources and other export oriented commodities. Kazakhstan is currently working on a program of economic diversification and is cultivating a diverse portfolio of industries that includes renewable energy, transportation and communications, agriculture, financial services and eco-tourism.

Dr. Kairat Yermekovich Umarov holds a PhD in History, and has been working in the diplomatic service since Kazakhstan’s independence. Ambassador Umarov served as Head of the Department of the Office of Europe and America, Deputy Director of the European Department; Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States; Ambassador to India and Sri Lanka, and Chief Inspector of the Presidential Foreign Policy Center of Kazakhstan. Dr. Umarov was appointed Ambassador to the United States in 2013.
